WEST BURLINGTON ? For 14 minutes Friday, the Maharishi School boys? basketball team played arguably its best basketball of the season.
The Pioneers played right with West Burlington over the first 14 minutes of the Friday contest before going cold in the second half to drop a 66-26 match-up in SEISC south play.
Before the Falcons went on a 10-2 run over the final two minutes of the first half, the score was tied 18-all. The Pioneers held West Burlington to one basket before the second-quarter run and on offense tallied seven assists and eight steals.
The Pioneers hit zero shots from the field in the second half, only scoring from the free throw line.
Paul DeAngelis led the Pioneers in scoring with eight points followed by sophomore Suraj Rao with a season-high seven points and Rashan Anderson with five. Top rebounders were DeAngelis with six, and Dillon Evertsen and Anderson with five boards apiece. Seniors Toby James and Thomas Weiss had three steals each. Surya Sawhney had two blocks.
The Pioneers (0-10, 0-9 SEISC south) are set to host Holy Trinity Tuesday.
