To the editor:
We are writing in response to Sarah Flinspach?s Troy Banner article entitled: ?Why We Need Planned Parenthood? [May 26]. In the article she states, ??no one can deny that this organization is out there to help people.?
One of the saddest things is that so many people buy into Planned Parenthood?s (PP) lies, such as the one above, and do no research about it on their own. Here is some background on the organization and its founder:
PP says they are very proud of their past. They honor their founder, Margaret Sanger, with their annual ?Maggie Awards.? Here are some of her quotes, word for word: ?The handicapped are human waste.? ?Kill babies even after they are born.? ?The most merciful thing that the large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it.? ?The earliest methods of primitive society have been infanticide...: the abandonment of babies; and feticide or abortion...?
Rather than decrying these methods, Sanger says that ?all true aristocracies, whether of politics or of genius, are the products of such control
PP has also been investigated and exposed in lies and cover-ups of illegal activities. Some of these investigations included: 1) Failing to properly handle and report child sexual abuse; 2) Aiding child sex rings across many states in providing abortions, birth control and cover-up 3) Using unscientific and made-up medical information to convince women to have an abortion 4) Making false claims regarding their alleged health service of providing mammograms.
In one study done in 2002, a person posed as a 13-year-old pregnant by her 22 year-old boyfriend - clearly, a case of statutory rape. Out of 800 cases - 90 percent of the time ? the abortion clinics acknowledged the illegality of the caller?s sexual relationship then agreed to conceal it.
PP says that they try to do as few abortions as possible. This is a lie. Ninety-eight percent of PP?s ?services? are abortions. A good source for information from a person once inside and now outside of PP is a book called, ?Unplanned? by Abby Johnson, a former director of a PP office. It?s available at the Fairfield Public Library.
PP is a dangerous organization to our communities and young people. Tell your congressperson how important it is we discontinue funding to PP. We strongly encourage everyone to do their own research and find out the truth.
