The New London Tigers won the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division outright in the 2020-21 season, and the Tigers reaped the spoils when the All-Conference teams were announced last weekend.
The Tigers had six names on the list, including Co-Coach of the year Bryant Porter. Cardinal had four players honored. Van Buren County and WACO each had three.
Coach Porter led the Tigers to a 19-5 season overall. New London won the South Division with a 14-2 record, and the Tigers beat Pekin 71-54 in the top game of the SEISC Shootout.
There were three Union Area players who made the South Division first team, two of which play for New London. Blaise Porter was named the SEISC Player of the year as a sophomore after scoring 22.4 points per game, dishing out 4.9 assists per game and pulling down 4.2 rebounds per game. The sophomore sniper also led his team on the defensive side, with 2.3 steals per game.
Fellow sophomore standout Kade Benjamin joined Porter on the first team. Benjamin was second-best on the New London team with 17.2 points per game, and led the team down low with 8.6 boards per game and 3.1 blocks per game.
The Tigers had one player named to the second team, as junior Devin Swanson found his way on the list. Junior Camden Kasel and senior Caydin Wahls were put on the honorable mention list.
Cardinal junior Griffin Greiner represented his Comet squad on the first team. Greiner scored 12.7 points per game this season and pulled down 5.9 rebounds per game.
Greiner led Cardinal in two categories. He finished the year with three assists per game, and was a menace on the defensive end with three steals per game.
The Comets had three more players joining Greiner on the lists. Junior Dawson Lewis made his way onto the second team. Junior Blaine Bryant was on the honorable mention squad, as was senior Elias Elammari.
There were four underclassmen total to make the first or second team, and all four of them belonged to Union area teams. While New London had two sophomores on the first team, both Van Buren County and WACO placed their top sophomores on the second team. Jackson Manning represented Van Buren County, while Simeon Reichenbach represented WACO.
Both Van Buren County and WACO had two honorable mentions. VBC was represented by senior Lane Davis and junior Owen Loeffler, and WACO had a pair of juniors; Isaac Oswald and Zach Schmitz.
