An eight-inning heartbreaker saw the Mid-Prairie softball team end their season on Wednesday night, when they traveled to Albia for a first-round regional game.
The Golden Hawks were tied with Albia going into the eighth inning, but a throwing error allowed a run, as Mid-Prairie fell 5-4 in extra innings.
Alex Rath and Caitlyn Riggan went 2-for-4 in the contest, with Amber Kral notching a pair of RBIs to highlight the Mid-Prairie offense on the night.
The Golden Hawks saw their season end at 12-23 on the year.
IMS drops second-round game to Cal-Wheat
After winning a first-round regional game, the Iowa Mennonite softball team went to take on a ranked Calamus-Wheatland team, and saw their season end.
IMS notched six hits in the contest, with Calli Shaw going 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a pair of runs in the 13-2 five-inning loss, while Alyssa Gonzales had a pair of hits.
Of the 13 runs IMS gave up, only five were credited as earned in the game.
IMS saw its season end with a 7-11 record.
WACO drops playoff game to Danville
WACO fell in a first-round regional game to Danville, notching two hits in the 13-1 loss.
Grace Conwell and Katie Miles accounted for the two hits in the game, while Miles eventually came around to score.
WACO?s season came to a close with a 1-18 record.
Keota drops regional game to Sigourney
Keota was in a rivalry game in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs, but a nine-run third inning did them in, as Sigourney won 14-1 in three innings.
Jaime Schulte was the only baserunner the Eagles could muster in the game, reaching on a walk before being driven in by Jill Schulte.
The loss ended Keota?s season.
