Prep baseball roundup: Van Buren wins big, Highland wins eighth straight

New London 10, Cardinal 1
New London led Cardinal 3-1 after one inning on Tuesday. It was the Comets sole run in the game as the Tigers scored seven runs until the game's end.
Dereck Santiago and Carter Allen both had three hits and two RBIs for the Tigers. Allen also had a home run. Kooper Schulte, Josh Catala and Brenden Richey all had two hits. Schulte also added two RBIs and a home run.
Santiago started for the Tigers on the mound and Schulte closed.
Josh Courtney had a pair of hits for Cardinal. Landon Becker and Carson Kenney each had one.
Blaine Bryant, Tatem Telfer and Quin Snyder all pitched for the Comets.
Van Buren County 19, West Burlington 2
The Warriors and Falcons were tied 1-1 in the first inning, but Van Buren scored six in the second, three in the third, five in the fourth and four in the fifth to win big.
Highland 13, Lone Tree 3
Highland had no problem with Lone Tree on Tuesday. The Huskies led 5-1 in the first inning and never looked back, scoring eight between the third and fifth innings.
Chase Schultz, Trevor McFarland, Peyton Yeggy and Brenton Bonebrake each had two hits in the game. Bonebrake also had three RBIs and Yeggy had two. Luke Miller, Kaige Vonnahme, Logan Bonebrake and Ethan Paisley all had one hit. Paisley finished with two RBIs. McFarland, Vonnahme and Logan Bonebrake each also had one RBI.
Schultz and Yeggy threw from the mound for Highland.
Keota 13, Montezuma 1
Keota continues to roll with dominating victory over Montezuma.
Caden Clarahan had four hits for the Eagles in the win with one RBI. Colten Clarahan ended with three hits and three RBIs. Evan Vittetoe had two hits and two RBIs. Aidan Anderson, Dalton Dodd, Cole Kindred and Aiden McGuire all had one hit. Anderson also tallied one RBI.
Colten Clarahan and Cole Kindred pitched for the Eagles.
Anamosa 8, Mid-Prairie 7
The Golden Hawks fell just short against the Blue Raiders on Tuesday. Mid-Prairie has been in a bit of a slump as of late. The loss marks their fifth in their last six.
Mediapolis 10, Winfield-Mt. Union 0
The Wolves only trailed 2-0 after two innings, but the Bulldogs scored eight in the final four innings after a scoreless third.
Notre Dame 6, Hillcrest Academy 0
Notre Dame led 2-0 for four innings before added two in the fifth and one each in the sixth and seventh to down Hillcrest Academy.
Tallying hits for the Ravens was Luke Schrock and Mason Bender each with a pair. Jace Rempel, Josiah Beachy and Grant Bender each had a single hit.
