Prep football roundup: Tigers get first win, Wildcats win big

It was another exciting Friday night full of football action this past week. A slew of area teams saw success, while other tasted defeat.
New London 52, Tri-County 0
The Tigers picked up their first win of the season with the victory over the Trojans.
Dom Lopez led the Tigers with four total touchdowns, two through the air and two on the ground. He ran for 94 yards and rushed for 60.
Boden Pickle, Blaise Porter and Brigham Porter all scored.
No. 2 (8-player) WACO 60, HLV 14
WACO had no problem with HLV on Friday.
Simeon Reichenbach, Oleh Shtefanchuk, Reece Oswald and Isaac Oswald all found the end zone in the first quarter.
Isaac Oswald finished with 149 yards passing and three touchdowns in the win.
Louden Huisenga led the Warriors with 28 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Shtefanchuk finished with two receptions and 64 yards.
The Warriors picked the ball off three times in the win as well, which one returned for a touchdown.
Columbus 55, Highland 0
Columbus just keeps rolling. The Wildcats scored 28 points in the first quarter and 20 in the second alone.
Kaden Amigon rushed for 142 yards on just five carries. Triston Miller added 94 yards on two carries. Riley Kaalberg ended with 93 yards on two carries. The trio each finished with two touchdown in the win.
Iowa Valley 68, No. 10 (8-player) Winfield-Mt. Union 52
The Wolves suffered their first loss of the season Friday in an all time battle against the Tigers.
WMU led 24-18 after one and 40-34 after the break, but the Tiger’s defense jump started in the third and was able to propel them to victory.
Cole Milks three for 105 yards and one touchdown on the night. Milks also had 97 yards rushing. Eli Miller rushed for 104 yards and Abram Edwards 83 yards.
Caleb Giese finished with 60 yards receiving and Edwards 45 yards.
Central Lee 34, Cardinal 14
Central Lee led Cardinal 22-14 at the end of the first half, but the Comets would never score again pushing the Hawks to victory.
Davis County 26, Van Buren County 14
Van Buren trailed Davis County just 8-6 at the break, but the Mustangs outscore the Warriros 18-8 the rest of the way out.
Jackson Manning finished with 291 yards passing and two touchdowns.
Izaak Loeffler led on the ground with 62 yards. Through the air Anthony Duncan finished with 11 receptions for 268 yards and two touchdowns.
Alburnett 42, Pekin 0
Pekin struggled with Alburnett on Friday night. The Pirates led 27-0 at halftime and scored 15 more in the fourth to down the Panthers.
Luke Long led Pekin with 23 yards rushing on 15 carries.
