Prep softball roundup: Cardinal grabs win, New London comes up short

Cardinal led 3-1 after one inning against the Rockets. Eddyville tied it in the third with a pair of runs, but the Comets scored six in the fourth and one in the fifth to pick up a win.
Maddy Lawson and Nicoa McClure led the Comets with three hits in the win. McClure also had an RBI as well. Brinlee Ostrander, Ava Ferrell and Caitlyn Reber each had a pair of hits. Ferrell ended with two RBIs and Reber had one.
McClure took the win from the circle allowing five runs on nine hits, two walks and 10 strikeouts.
Fort Madison 8, New London 0
New London trailed just 1-0 for two innings, but the Bloodhounds scored two in the third and five in the fourth to down the Tigers.
Elly Manning, Ashlyn McSorley, Sophie Malott and Kaitlyn Lee each finished with a hit in the loss.
Megan Lee three for the Tigers, allowing eight runs on seven hits, five walks and four strikeouts.
