Prep softball roundup: Cardinal, Highland win big

Cardinal 12, Moravia 0
The Comets scored seven runs in the first inning, and five between the second and fourth to down the Mohawks in five innings on Monday.
Cardinal had 17 hits in the win.
Caitlyn Reber, Kinsey Hissem and Riley Bears led the Comets with three hits in the win. Hissem and Bears each had two RBIs and Reber one.
Nicoa McClure won in the circle with a no hitter and three strikeouts.
Highland 9, Winfield-Mt. Union 1
The Huskies scored one in the first and didn’t scored again until the fifth against the Wovles. Winfield tied it in the fourth, but Highland brought three home in the fifth and five in the seventh.
Sarah Burton paced the Huskies with a pair of hits and an RBI in the win. Payton Brun, Grace Batcheller, Jessica Kraus, MyLei Smith and Lilly Barre each had a hit as well. Batcheller ended with three RBIs. Kraus and Smith each had two. Barre had one.
Kraus was a winner in the circle allowing one run on three hits, three walks and four strikeouts.
Van Buren County 4, Holy Trinity Catholic 3
The Warriors scored three in the third, but the Crusaders tied it with three of their own in the fifth. Van Buren was able to pull out the win with a run in the eighth.
Kylee Roen and Jade Balmer each had a pair of hits in the win. Balmer had an RBI as well. Annabelle Cormier, Callie Kracht and Ivy Davison all had hits as well. Kracht had an RBI as well.
Alli Campbell pitched to a win, allowing three runs on six hits, three walks and eight strikeouts.
Mid-Prairie 2, Durant 1
Wapello 12, Hillcrest Academy
Hillcrest and Wapello were tied 2-2 after one, but the Arrows scored 10 beginning in the second and ending in the sixth.
Tri-County 11, Keota 0
The Trojans scored 11 between the third and sixth to down the Eagles Monday night.
