Prep softball roundup: Highland, Pekin pick up wins

Highland 10, Winfield-Mt. Union 0

Highland scored two in the first, five in the fourth and three in the sixth to pick up a Southeast Iowa Super Conference win against Winfield on Monday.

Sarah Burton, Mackinze Hora, Grace Batcheller and Katelyn Waters all had two hits in the game. Payton Brun, Jessica Kraus, MyLei Smith, and Madison Beeson each had one.

Kraus pitched for the Huskies. She allowed just two hits and seven strikeouts.

Pekin 8, Lone Tree 6

Pekin scored six unanswered in the first three innings against Lone Tree. The Lions outscored the Panthers 6-2 in the final four innings, but it wasn’t enough to take down Pekin.

Holy Trinity Catholic 4, Van Buren County 2

After three scoreless innings, Van Buren County took a 2-1 lead. The Crusaders took the lead an inning later bringing three runs home.

Callie Kracht, Ivy Davison, Lexee Fritz and Jade Balmer all had one hit.

Alli Campbell pitched for the Warriors. She allowed four hits, four runs (three earned), one walk and six strikeouts.
