Prep softball roundup: Mid-Prairie, Cardinal win two in a row

Mid-Prairie 11, Mt. Pleasant 1
The Golden Hawks scored five in the first, once in the third and five again in the fourth to pick up a non-conference win over the Panthers.
Mt. Pleasant’s one run came in the second.
Dakota Mitchell finished with a game high three hits in the game for Mid-Prairie. Gabi Robertson, Brittany Kinsinger and Madeline Schrader all had a pair of hits. Robertson also had two RBIs and Kinsinger one. Sophie Miller, Sydney Knebel, Landry Pacha, Brenna Jehle and Molly Yoder all ended with one hit. Yoder hit a three run home run. Miller had two RBIs, while Pacha and Jehle each had one.
Sydney Knebel pitched for the Golden Hawks.
For Mt. Pleasant, Jersey Beachy finished with a pair of hits. Saige Burchett and Jayden Housh each had one. Housh had one RBI as well.
Madison Helling and Myah Starr both threw from the circle for the Panthers.
Mid-Prairie 9, North Cedar 6
Mid-Prairie outscored North Cedar 7-5 in the first three innings. The Golden Hawks added two more runs in the sixth to solidify the win.
Cardinal 14, Danville 0
The Comets scored five in the first, four in the second, once in the third and four in the fifth to put the Bears away.
Kinsey Hissem had four hits and four RBIs in the win for Cardinal. Brinlee Ostrander had three hits. Caitlyn Reber, Emma Becker and Nicoa McClure each had two hits. Maddy Lawson and Riley Bears each had one. Ava Ferrell and McClure both had two RBIs as well. Becker and Lawson each had one.
McClure was the winning pitcher on the day.
Cardinal 3, Wapello 2
Wapello led 1-0 after the third, but Cardinal tied it, 1-1, in the fifth. The Arrows took the lead again in the sixth, but the Comets brought two runs home to take the victory.
Brinlee Ostrander picked up a pair of hits in the win. Caitlyn Reber, Emma Becker, Kinsey Hissem, Nicoa McClure and Maddy Lawson all finished with one hit. Reber ended with two RBIs and Becker one.
McClure pitched from the circle for the Comets.
Hillcrest Academy 9, Columbus 8
After five innings, the Ravens held a 6-5 advantage over the Wildcats.
Hillcrest added two more runs in the six. Columbus scored two runs in the seventh, but fell short of sending the game to extras.
Esther Hughes, Malia Yoder and Norah Yoder each had a pair of hits for Hillcrest. Hughes and Malia Yoder also had two RBIs each, while Norah Yoder had one. Evelyn Gerber, Delaney Shaw and Grace Miller all had one hit. Miller and Shaw each had a single RBI.
Leah Bontrager pitched the Raven to a win.
For Columbus, Lily Coil went 3-3 with four RBIs. Sera Vela, Libby White and Jocelyn Fulton all had two hits. Lecet Quiroz had one. Victoria Howell finished with two RBIs. Quiroz and Kennedy Woepking each had one RBI.
Lily Coil and Libby White threw for the Wildcats.
Holy Trinity Catholic 10, Columbus 6
The Crusaders and Wildcats were tied 1-1 after one on Friday, but Holy Trinity outscored Columbus 9-5 the rest of the way.
Van Buren County 8, Lone Tree 4
Van Buren County scored three in second, once in the third and four in the seventh to down Lone Tree.
Annabelle Cormier, Ivy Davison and Alli Campbell all had two hits each. Campbell also had three RBIs. Callie Kracht, Kylee Roen, Cala Smith, McKenna Caviness and Jade Balmer all had one hit. Caviness also had one RBI.
Alli Campbell took the win from the circle for Van Buren.
Highland 10, Central Lee 7
Highland scored four in the first inning against Central Lee. The Hawks outscored the Huskies 7-6, but it wasn’t enough.
Sarah Burton and Payton Brun each had three hits. Brun also had three RBIs. Grace Prybil ended with two hits and an RBI. Mackinze Hora, Jessica Kraus, MyLei Smith and Madison Beeson each had one hit. Katelyn Waters, Smith and Prybil also had one RBI each.
Grace Batcheller was the winning pitcher on the day.
Iowa City High 5, Highland 0
Highland never had an answer for the Little Hawks on Friday.
Grace Prybil finished with two hits. Sarah Burton, Mackinze Hora and Payton Brun all had one hit.
Jessica Kraus pitched in the contest for the Huskies.
Mediapolis 10, Pekin 8
The Panthers trailed 10-8 after the fifth. The Panthers played defense well in the final two innings, but they couldn’t find the runs to stay alive.
Kendyl Noel had three hits and one RBI for Pekin. Myah Bainbridge, Brooke Miller and Alex Parsons all had two hits. Quinnlyn Baker and Claire Roth both had one hit. Baker, Bainbridge, Kadence Brisby and Abby Guise all had one RBI.
Brooke Miller pitched for the Panthers in the loss.
West Burlington 13, New London 0
West Burlington scored 13 runs in the five innings to pick up a Southeast Iowa Super Conference win over New London on Thursday.
Olivia Hester finished with two hits in the loss. Elly Manning, Chevy Mills and Marlianna Woodsmall each had one.
Megan Lee was in the circle for New London.
Montezuma 14, Keota 0
Montezuma scored 11 in the first and three in the second to down the Eagles in three innings.
Colfax-Mingo 18, Keota 0
The Tigerhawks scored 18 through four innings to defeat the Eagles.
Lone Tree 9, Winfield-Mt. Union 7
The Wolves led 5-3 after three innings, but the Lions scored six in the final four to edge WMU on Thursday.
