Prep volleyball roundup: Mid-Prairie rolls, Hillcrest gets second win

A handful of area volleyball teams were in actions on Tuesday night. Just two teams came out with wins, with Mid-Prairie and Hillcrest Academy being the suspects.
No. 15 (Class 3A) Mid-Prairie 3, Durant 0
The Golden Hawks continue to roll with a sweep of Durant.
Mid-Prairie had no problem on Tuesday against Durant. The Golden Hawks won 25-13, 25-12 and 25-16.
That’s now four wins in their last five.
Hillcrest Academy 3, Rivermont Collegiate 0
The Ravens picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday.
Hillcrest won in straight sets 25-7, 25-15 and 25-11.
In the win, the Ravens tallied 31 aces. Kylee Statler finished with 10. Claire Withrow finished with 11 assists. Malia Yoder led with eight kills and Lydia Beachy ended with four digs.
Columbus falls short at English Valleys trio
The Wildcats fell just short of adding two wins to their record on Tuesday.
Columbus lost a pair of matches to English Valleys and Louisa-Muscatine 2-1 each.
The Bears downed the Wildcats 23-25, 25-18 and 15-3. Columbus lost to the Falcons 25-19, 19-25 and 15-11.
Centerville 3, Cardinal 0
The Comets couldn’t slow the Big Reds attack on Tuesday night.
Centerville took the three set sweep with victories of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-11.
Brenna Guiter led Cardinal with 10 kills on the night. Megan Ward finished with nine assists.
Defensively, Brinlee Ostrander had 14 digs.
