No. 15 (Class 1A) New London 3, No. 8 (Class 1A) Holy Trinity Catholic 0
New London picked up a huge win on Thursday night sweeping the No. 8 Crusaders in three sets.
The Tigers won the sets 27-25, 25-17 and 25-22.
New London goes 2-2 at Muscatine Tournament
Over the weekend the Tigers competed in a tournament at Muscatine. New London picked up wins over Burlington, 21-10, 21-11, and Durant, 21-18 and 21-8.
Their two losses in the tournament came from West Liberty, 8-21, 13-21 and host Muscatine in three sets, 27-25, 22-24 and 11-15.
No. 10 (Class 3A) Mid-Prairie 3, West Branch 0
Mid-Prairie had no problem with West Branch last Thursday night.
The top 10 Golden Hawks won in three sets, 26-24, 25-20 and 25-18 to complete the sweep.
Mid-Prairie wins two loses three at Mount Vernon Tournament
The Golden Hawks fell to Des Moines Christian, who is No. 2 in Class 3A, in their first match of the tournament, 11-21 and 17-21.
In their second match, Mid-Prairie fell short to the No. 14 team in Class 2A, Beckman Catholic, in three sets, 16-21, 21-16 and 9-15.
Their third loss of the tournament came from Center Point-Urbana in three sets, 15-21, 21-18 and 7-15.
Mid-Prairie bounced back in its final two match though, downing Ottumwa, 21-16, 21-8, and sweeping the No. 3 team in Class 4A, Waverly-Shell Rock, 21-18, 21-17.
Winfield-Mt. Union goes 4-0, wins title at English Valleys Tournament
WMU swept all the competition at the English Valleys Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Wolves downed East Marshall 21-9 and 21-12. They then dropped Cardinal 21-13 and 21-4. In their third match of the day, Winfield topped the host Bears 21-6 and 21-6.
In the finals, WMU edged WACO 26-24 and 25-20 to take the title.
WACO 3, Hillcrest Academy 0
WACO stayed undefeated with a sweep of Hillcrest Academy on Thursday.
The Warriors defeated the Ravens 25-15, 25-19 and 25-17 in the three matches.
WACO goes 3-1 at English Valleys
The Warriors had a great performance at the English Valleys Tournament over the weekend.
WACO picked up wins over Hillcrest Academy (21-15, 21-6), Sigourney (21-7, 21-15) and Tri-County (21-11, 21-16).
Against Winfield-Mt. Union in the finals, the Warriors fell 24-26 and 20-25.
Cardinal gets one at English Valleys Tournament
Cardinal struggled over the weekend at English Valleys.
The Comets fell to the host Bears in three sets, 18-21, 22-20 and 10-15.
Winfield-Mt. Union then defeated the Comets 21-13 and 21-4, followed by East Marshall, 21-18, 21-16.
The Comets one win came over Hillcrest Academy 21-16 and 21-8.
Highland 3, Pekin 0
Highland downed Pekin in three straight sets in the two’s Thursday night contest.
The Huskies won the three sets 25-23, 25-18 and 25-14.
Wapello 3, Columbus 0
The Wildcats competed in all three sets, but couldn’t get over the hump against the Arrows.
Columbus fell in the sets 15-25, 21-25 and 21-25.
Central Lee 3, Van Buren County 0
Van Buren County fell short to Central Lee last Thursday.
The Warriors dropped sets 22-25, 12-25 and 13-25 in the sweep.
