Rath chosen for All-Star series
The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association have selected seniors for the annual All-Star Series. The series was not played last year and will not be conducted this season. The plan is for a resumption next season.
Mid-Prairie’s Aidan Rath has been chosen for the 2021 All-Star Series. Rath is the only Union area player to be selected.
However, many Union area schools have seen a variety of players participate in the series, which usually consists of four teams.
The teams play a round robin format with each facing off with the other three. The games are played Thursday through Saturday then a championship and consolation are played Sunday.
The four teams are usually divided into a big school east and west teams with a small school east and west.
Rath becomes the ninth Golden Hawk to play in the All-star Series. Mid-Prairie’s nine entries are the most of any area school.
A number of local schools have four since the first year of the series, 1977.
Past area players to represent in the All-Star Series have been with area school, players and years played.
