Rath leads No. 4 Mid-Prairie to baseball win

WELLMAN — Usually a player doesn’t want a single in a baseball game, but if Aidan Rath had hit one Monday in a game against West Liberty, he would have hit for the cycle. He also pitched three innings for the win and recorded strike outs for every out in those three innings.

Rath had a home run, a double and a triple in Mid-Prairie’s 14-3 win over West Liberty in a River Valley Conference game that ended in five innings. The seven-inning game was an 8-0 win for the fourth-ranked Class 2A baseball team.

Kayden Reinier went 3-for-4 in the second game, and Keegan Gingerich tossed 5⅔ innings for the win. He allowed a single hit and struck out 11, walking three. Cain Brown threw the other four outs.
