Raven’s Yoder takes title at Mediapolis
Hillcrest Academy, Highland and WACO all compete

MEDIAPOLIS — Three area Union area cross-country squads competed in Mediapolis on Thursday.
For Hillcrest Academy, Highland and WACO, it marked the final regular season meet of the season.
On the day, no one was a bigger winner than Hillcrest Academy’s Marie Yoder. Yoder took the meet title, the first of her career, after running 20:42.
Yoder topped Danville’s Alaina Gourley by 29 seconds.
The Raven’s did not post a team score, as Danville took the team title, but both Rya Scott and Delaney Shaw also medaled for the Ravens.
Scott placed seventh in 23:56. Shaw placed 13th in 25:06. Brynna O’Rourke placed 28th in 27:50.
Highland was led by Siena Stanerson with a fourth-place finish in 23:25. Halle Hazelett finished 29th for the Huskies as well.
WACO was paced by Justine Lynn in 24th at 26:43. Teammate’s Sarah Craun took 30th and Deedra Graber 38th.
In the boys’ standings, Hillcrest Academy finished fourth and Highland fifth with 109 and 124 points respectfully.
Mediapolis took the team title with 24 points, followed by Danville and Central Lee.
Juniors Micah Gerber and Jesse Blossom placed ninth and tenth respectively in the boys race.
Gerber clocked 19:06, a season best. Blossom’s time of 19:22 is a new personal best as well.
Isaac Beachy was the third Raven to cross the tape. Beachy ran 22:56 for 41st. Jeremiah Danker was not far behind placing 45th with a new personal best time of 23:14.
Micah Kacmarynski took a full minute off his previous personal best time. Kacmarynski placed 49th in 24:49. Braden Hartsock was the sixth Raven to cross the finish line, placing 50th in 25:36.
For Highland, Brock Thomann ran a team-best 20:48 for 21st.
Also placing for the Huskies were Jacob Schneider in 38th, Chase Hickenbottom 39th, Brayden Zywiec 40th, Jackson Schneider 42nd, Isaac Giesman 47th, Jackson Robinson 53rd and Spencer Thompkin 54th.
Keriran Luitjens led WACO with a 17th overall finish, clocking 20:20.
Tristan Luitjens ran to a 26th overall finish and Deacon Bird took 31st.
