West Branch shot a red-hot 67 percent from the field as the Bears defeated IMS 41-25 at Tuesday?s Mid-Prairie Jamboree.
The Bears, who went 16-for-24 from the field in two quarters of play, made their first four shots as they jumped out to a 9-4 lead. West Branch never seemed to cool off, going 8-for-11 from the field in the first quarter and leading 22-15 after eight minutes of play.
IMS, which was 22-5 and a state qualifier last season, shot a respectable 40 percent (10-for-25) from the field, but could just never catch the red-hot Bears.
Senior Rylee Murry scored 18 points to lead West Branch, which finished 18-5 last year. Sophomore Mason Hays added six points.
Senior Cameron Gingerich scored seven points to lead IMS. Juniors Reggie Hostetler, Dallas Nye and Zach Hill added four points apiece. Senior Peyton Thompson and freshman Eli Gingerich both chipped in three points.
