To the editor:
I?m facing, as a local person, possibly universal, certainly locally, a crisis of NOISE POLUTION! We all hear these amazingly loud pick up trucks and cars and the noisy neighbors with boom boxes, loud music and behavior, AS IF: AS IF there are no other people on the planet, and certainly without any concern for those who are affected by their TRASH-NOISE: seemingly some primitive form of self expression. When did being LOUD, invasive, overwhelmingly crass and rude become cool? It?s not. It?s a dumbing-down of our country towards a totally gross level of behavior and disregard for one another, including personal safety. I am near the end of a very long rope of insulting invasive sounds and racket, low level life styles that are abrasive to my well being. What can we do, as a small town to curb this outrage of burgeoning insanity of invasive insults? There is a 24/7 NOISE ORDINANCE but hard to enforce. I feel like, if I hear one more loud car or truck, or neighbor nightmare, like leaving here forever, wishfully to outer space. I?m disturbed, and as a citizen I wanted to simply express it. Maybe I need to get a LOUD speaker system and drive around town in a mud truck without mufflers expressing my opinion? I hope not. I?m asking all people here to calm down, way down, and respect your neighbors, be aware of those near you, and to attempt to live with some degree of refinement. Maybe that?s far too much to ask? Thank you.
