RVC Elite, All-Division softball teams named

The River Valley Conference has selected its Elite and All-Division teams for the 2021 softball season. The league has four teams at the state tournament with Iowa City Regina and Wilton in Class 2A and Anamosa and West Liberty in 3A.

Mid-Prairie senior Myah Lugar landed on the South Division team as an outfielder. Teammates Hannah Sellers, a freshman, and Dakota Mitchell, an eighth-grader, were additional selections and Katelyn Schneider, a junior, was honorable mention.

Lugar had a .331 batting average, and Mitchell struck out just seven times. Lugar’s 37 singles, and Mitchell’s 36 were second and third in the RVC South.

Mitchell led the Golden Hawks with an average of .381 while Sellers batted at a .355 clip and Schneider .348. Schneider led in RBIs at 28, Mitchell had 22, Lugar 19 and Sellers 16.

Mitchell’s 23 stolen bases led Mid-Prairie and was second in the South Division. Mid-Prairie teammates Gabi Robertson (22) and Madeline Schrader (18) were fourth and sixth. Mitchell’s three triples were tied for first in the league.

Sellers was ninth in the South and second on Mid-Prairie in errors committed with four, ninth in the South and third on team in fielding percentage at .968 and Lugar fourth at .921 with five errors.

The on-base percentage of Mitchell was .449 with Schneider at .409, Sellers .389 and Lugar .380.

Lugar was first in the South with 28 games started, second with 752 opponents at bats, second in innings pitched at 156, fourth in strikeouts at 87 and seventh in walks with 23. She had a 7-19 record with a 6.24 earned run average and 1.94 WHIP.
