New London-WMU's Sawyer Farris (120) pinned Matt Bieber, Clear Lake, in 3:29 during his consolation semi-final match this morning.
The senior upped his record to 46-1 on the season and moves on to the consolation finals later today, when he will face Mediapolis' Cole Erickson (40-3).
At the district tournament, Farris defeated the Mediapolis freshman by a 7-0 decision. At the sectional tournament, Erickson's medical default gave Farris the 120-pound title.
Erickson's only other loss this season came on Friday to state tournament finalist Tony DeVriese, a junior from Davenport Assumption.
DeVriese will wrestle in the championship match against Dylan Peters (Denver-Tripoli), the undefeated senior who dealt Farris his first loss this year.
9:00 p.m., Friday
Farris moves on to the consolation semi-finals after winning his third-round consolation match against Goodman by major decision, 15-4.
He is now 45-1 overall and will wrestle again tomorrow morning against Matt Bieber (32-7) from Clear Lake.
6:00 p.m., Friday
Aplara lost to Netolicky by decision, 7-4.
That loss put him in the seventh/eighth place match, where he lost by fall to Brett Haas of Dubuque Hempsted to take eighth place in Class 3A at 220 pounds.
3:00 p.m., Friday
Mt. Pleasant's Colton Aplara (220) defeated Jordan Rouse from Ankeny this afternoon by a 4-3 decision to advance in the state wrestling tournament.
Aplara is now 28-10 on the season.
He will wrestle his third-round consolation match against Andrew Netolicky (Cedar Rapids Prairie, 40-7) this evening during Session 5, between 3:30 and 6:45 p.m.
Sawyer Farris (120) also advanced in the state tournament when he defeated Ballard's Mitchell Broer by major decision, 15-6.
Farris is now 44-1 on the season.
He will wrestle Chase Goodman (South Central Calhoun, 53-5) during Session 6 tonight, between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.
