Schlabaugh, McCain golf in tourney

CORALVILLE - A pair of Mid-Prairie High School golfers fared well at Brown Deer Golf Club Wednesday in the Iowa City Junior Golf Tournament, which was a Birdie Point Event on the 2020 Iowa PGA Junior Tour.

Noah Schlabaugh of Kalona finished 11th and Dominic McCain of Wellman placed 19th in the Boys Age 16-18 category.

Schlabaugh finished with an 8-over-par 79 while McCain and one other golfer posted a 13-over 84. Joe Hammer of Ottumwa won with a 1-under total of 70.

Schlabaugh posted a 38 on the par-36 front nine where he had one birdie, three bogeys and five pars. The back nine started with a birdie, but three bogeys followed before a par, then a bogey, double bogey, par, bogey finish for a 41 on the par-35 back nine.

McCain had four pars, all on par-4s, four bogeys and a double bogey on his front nine for a score of 42 on the par-36. he shot a 42 on the par-35 back nine with a triple bogey, a double bogey, two bogeys and five pars.
