PELLA ? In their final indoor before the outdoor season gets underway, the Fairfield girls track team traveled to the Central Indoor in Pella Thursday night and came away with a handful of top three finishes including one first place.
Libbey Schubert led the Trojans with top honors after running her 200-meter dash in 28 seconds flat. Chelsey Taylor was a couple strides behind with a third-place finish in 30.1 seconds. Maryn Fulton took second in the high jump with a best of five feet-one inch. That mark tied the first-place finisher, but Fulton received second due to more misses at earlier heights.
In other field events, Katie Hammes threw 34 feet to take third place in the shot put and Schubert also placed third in the long jump with a leap of 14 feet-three and ¾ inches. Fulton, Taylor, Rachel Swanson and Taylor Silvers teamed up for another bronze in the shuttle hurdle (43.7), and the 4x800 relay team of Mackenzie Laux, Brittney Fry, Lindsay Borgomainerio and Dana Diers took third-place in 10:47.
That same 4x8 group mixed up a little bit to run a 4:44 4x400 relay to place fourth. Other individual performances was Fulton fifth in the 55-meter hurdles (10.25), and Amanda Melcher sixth in the 3,000-meter in 12:20.
Fairfield has two weeks off before their first outdoor meet in Mount Pleasant on April 7.
