Season begins for IW golf

GALESBURG, Ill. - The 2021 spring golf season is underway for Iowa Wesleyan University. The Tigers traveled to the Knox College Spring Invitationa, where the women finished first out of two teams who qualified for a team score, and the men took fifth of six.
The IW women scored a 409 for the day. That was just three spots better than Carl Sandburg Community College
Sophomore Teresa Diez Dorta had a strong start to the new year, shooting an 86 overall for second place overall on the day. Karli Kirchner placed seventh, with a round of 100. Claire Hanson finished two strokes behind her, at 102, and Michal Wohlleber shot a 121 to tie for 13th.
The Iowa Wesleyan men's team shot a 358, which was 24 strokes back of first place Illinois College (324). The Tigers were led by the duo of Jeff Cox and Mason Wills, both of which tied for 15th overall with 86.
Kenneth Tucker was the third-best scorer for the Tiger men, shooting a 90 to tie for 25th place. Nathan Cronkhite took 30th, at 96, and Jack Stickels was 31st, at 97.
