Another Southeast Conference girls basketball season is complete which means it’s time for yet another Southeast Conference All-Conference girls basketball list.
This season, Mt. Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield all have three players on the yearly list.
Fairfield holds the lone Union area first-team selection, while Mt. Pleasant and Washington each have one second-team.
The trio each have a pair of honorable mention picks as well.
SEC champion Keokuk leads the way with seven total selection, followed by Fort Madison with five and Burlington has three.
Kicking off the Union area teams is Fairfield senior Savannah Hollander. Hollander was the Trojans go to scorer in her senior season, finishing with a conference third best 16.0 points a game average.
Along with her scoring she also led the Trojans in rebounds with a 6.3 average per game, assists with 2.5 a game and steals at 4.2. All three of those lines were good enough for top five in the SEC with the seals ranking second.
Hollander was effective in the shooting column, finishing with a field goal percentage of 47.9%, good enough for second in the conference, and a three point percentage of 37.5%, the second highest in the league.
The guard was stellar at getting to the line as well, knocking down a SEC second best 3.2 free throws a night. She led the league in foul shot percentage at 73.3%.
On the honorable mention list for Fairfield are senior Briana Steele and sophomore Faith Jones.
Mt. Pleasant is paced by sophomore Abby Carthey on the second-team list.
Abby Carthey came into her own in her sophomore season. As a freshman, Carthey averaged just 1.2 points a game.
This season, Carthey led the Panthers with 8.8 points a game. She also tallied 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.0 assists.
The first year starter was the best in the conference at getting to the foul line. Carthey averaged a conference best 4.7 free throw attempts per game and connected on 3.3 a game to top the list.
Carthey’s 70.4% free throw mark ranked third in the conference.
The Panther two honorable mention selections were seniors Juliana Burns and Hailey Parrott.
Another sophomore on the second-team list is Washington’s Adalyn Long.
Long was the Demons go to scorer in her freshman season and the same held true in 2024.
Before a season ending injury cut her sophomore year short, Long was playing some stellar ball, averaging 12.2 points per game, good enough for fourth in the SEC. She also carded 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.4 assists.
Long’s steals and assists numbers ranked fourth and fifth in the league. She was also one of the conference top deep threats. Long averaged 1.6 three balls a game.
Getting to the foul line was also a common occurrence for Long. She averaged 4.2 free throws a game and drilled 2.9 a night, both ranked fourth in the SEC. Ranking fourth in the league as well was her free throw percentage of 69.6%.
On the honorable mention list, senior Maci Williams and junior Kendall Hinrichsen earn the distinction for the Demons.
