SEC bowling roundup: Mt. Pleasant splits, Fairfield drops two

Two Union area coverage Southeast Conference bowling teams were in action last Thursday, with Mt. Pleasant matching up with Burlington and Fairfield squaring off against Keokuk.
On Mt. Pleasant’s side of things, the Panthers and Grayhounds split. The Panther girls picked up a win, defeating the Grayhounds 2445-1919 and improving to 7-1 on season.
Addison McGehearty led the way for Mt. Pleasant, finishing with a game-high 420 score. Tori Hixson bowled the second best score with a 350. Abby Anderson finished fourth with a 313. Kylie Alldredge finished fifth, bowling a 304. Eden Svoboda and Bethany Drury rounded out the Panthers lineup, tying for sixth with a score of 281.
In the boys competition, Burlington got the best of Mt. Pleasant, 2659-2459. The Panthers drop down to .500, 3-3, with the loss.
Alec Payne was the highest placer for the Panthers. Payne bowled a 384, good enough for fourth. Nolan Myers finished fifth with a score of 357. Cole Wohlleber ended in sixth with a 330. Jonathan Fortin was eighth, bowling 293. Aiden Adams bowled a 266 for tenth and Henry Pforts was twelfth bowling a 218.
Fairfield had a rough day on both sides of alley. The Trojans were defeated in both the boys and girls games. The Fairfield boys fell 2570-2425 and the girls, 2721-1925.
Gannon Scott had the highest score for Fairfield. Scott finished third with 391. Ian Aplara followed Scott with a fifth place finish, scoring 344. Chase Johnston bowled 317, while tying for sixth. Bihn Troung placed ninth bowling 282. Dalton Drish finished eleventh with a 276 and Ethan Cass twelfth with a score of 205.
For the girls, Karen Ehret was the highest finisher. She nabbed a fifth place finish with a score of 342. Jayden Burke tallied a 277 for a eighth place. Elizabeth Hootman followed in ninth with 240. Abigail Ford bowled a 233 for tenth and Nicole Robb finished with 201 for eleventh.
The boys drop to 2-4 and the girls 3-3.
