Washington leads Union area with four named to All-Conference

Union area boys soccer teams had an eventful year this past season in the Southeast Conference.
Washington, Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant all had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day all have players that excelled on the field.
With the season in the rear view, it’s time to look at the 2022 SEC boys All-Conference team.
Washington lead the Union area teams with the most All-Conference selections, four. Fairfield had three make the list and Mt. Pleasant finishes with one.
Fort Madison leads the league with six. Burlington ends with four and Keokuk has two.
Fort Madison’s Mitchell Pothitakis was named the SEC Player of the Year.
The Demons had an all around great season. They finished with an overall record of 12-5 and an SEC record of 7-3, which was good enough for second in the league.
Making on the list for the Demons are sophomores Randy Huertero, Emanuel Raymundo, Brayan Arreola and junior Fredy Aguilar.
Aguilar lead Washington on the scoring end of the things, finishing the season with 12 total goals along with three assists.
As for assisting, Raymundo was the top Demon, finishing with a total of 12 assist and six goals.
Arreola had a solid all around season, tallying seven goals and seven assists in 15 games played.
Huertero played in all 17 games for Washington this season. He played an integral part of a solid Demons defense. Over the course of the season, he also tallied one goal.
Fairfield finished fourth in the league, ending with an overall record of 4-6 and a conference record of 5-9.
Andrew Twohill led the Trojans in scoring this past season. The junior finished with 16 goals and three assists.
Carter Stark followed Twohill in the scoring column, ending with eight goals in 14 games, along with one assist.
Rounding out Fairfield is Carter Moore. Moore was excellent for the Trojans on the defensive side of the ball. He also finished with one goal and three assists.
Mt. Pleasant had a tough year on the pitch, but put together some great performances. The Panthers finished with an overall record of 1-16 and 0-10 in the SEC.
For Mt. Pleasant, Mario Carapia Segundo. Segundo was an important piece of the Panthers midfield throughout the season.
Each of the SEC teams also had a pair of players named to the honorable mention list.
Will Gilchrist-Brock and Emre Akgul represent Washington. Mikael Anderson and Joey Valdez were selected for Fairfield. For Mt. Pleasant, Ben Carthay and Moroni Sanchez each made the list.
