The Southeast Conference boys soccer slate continues to head toward the end of the season, and two more Union area games were played in the league on Thursday night. Fairfield beat Mt. Pleasant in an overtime thriller, and Washington blasted Keokuk.
Fairfield 2, Mt. Pleasant 1 (OT)
After beating the Panthers 6-0 earlier this season, Fairfield had to battle to the bitter end to earn a win at East Lake Park in Mt. Pleasant.
Fairfield led 1-0 at halftime, but Mt. Pleasant’s Noah Lange tied the game up in the second half, and neither team could break a 1-1 tie until overtime.
In the extra period, the Trojans scored the golden goal to complete the season sweep, and beat the Panthers for the seventh-straight time in the all-time series.
Fairfield had goals from Miles Siemsen and Danny Ellingaus in the game. Bihn Truong had one assist.
Trojan goalkeeper Mikael Anderson spent 67 minutes in net and saved three shots. Dalton Drish played for 15 minutes, gave up one goal and recorded two saves.
Rudy Ruiz Motta had eight saves for Mt. Pleasant in the loss.
Washington 9, Keokuk 1
The Demons poured it on against Keokuk at Washington Wellness Park.
Washington scored five goals in the first half to bury the Chiefs early. The Demons put up four goals in the second half, and Keokuk scored just once in the second half.
Kevler Lopez scored three goals and dished out one assist to lead the Demons. Emanuel Raymundo finished with two goals and two assists. Edwin Corets, Lane Schrock, Fredy Aguilar and Brayan Arreola all scored one goal.
