Southeast Conference basketball is back tonight, and the championship races are heating up.
There will be four SEC rematches taking place on the hardwood, as Mt. Pleasant and Washington renew their rivalry, as do Keokuk and Fort Madison. The first action between Fairfield and Burlington finally arrives.
Washington and Mt. Pleasant split their games earlier this season. The Washington boys won 58-50, behind a 15-point night from Kasen Bailey. Mt. Pleasant took the girls game 71-52, led by a 25-point performance from Andrea Lopreato.
Tonight, Mt. Pleasant will host the girls game while Washington hosts the boys.
Fairfield and Burlington have yet to play this season due to both seasons getting pushed back for COVID-19 related reasons.
The Trojan girls dominated the Grayhounds in their two matchups last season, beating Burlington 54-30 and 62-31. The boys were less successful, falling 48-35 and 68-55.
The Fairfield girls will host Burlington tonight while the boys travel east.
Keokuk and Fort Madison will play a girl-boy doubleheader in Fort Madison. The Bloodhounds took both games at Keokuk.
