Washington wins third straight, Mt. Pleasant gets back on track

Mt. Pleasant was a well-oiled machine on Thursday against Fairfield.
The Panthers dropped in more than a handful of goals, while also holding the Trojans scoreless in the process.
For Mt. Pleasant it was never really in doubt.
Through one half of play, the Panthers slipped six goals into the net, amassing a 6-0 lead at the break. A deficit that Fairfield would never overcome.
Mt. Pleasant went on to score three more through the second half of action to seal it.
Through the game, the Panthers berated the Trojans. They took a total of 56 shots, 27 of which were on target.
Elly Manning led Mt. Pleasant with five goals in the match. She also added one assist.
Charice Auwerda finished with a hat trick herself, notching three goals and a pair of assists.
Tori Wilson scored one for Mt. Pleasant as well.
Eli Heaton had five saves in goal for the Panthers.
With the win, Mt. Pleasant improves to 8-4 on the season.
Fairfield drops to 0-12 with the loss.
Washington 2, Keokuk 1
Washington and Keokuk needed extra time to decide a winner on Thursday night.
After one half of soccer, both the Demons and Chiefs had one goal a piece.
Through the second, neither team was able to find the back of the net, hence sending the game into extra periods.
The pair battled back and forth through the opening additional period, but when the final whistle blew it was Washington who found the net.
The goal would prove to be the game winner as Washington improves to 9-4 on the season.
