SEC wrestling: Demons lead at the break
Washington only 2-0 team in the standings heading into 2022

It’s early in the Southeast Conference wrestling season, but already the conference race is starting to take shape.
All SEC teams have wrestled either once or twice this season and only three teams have unbeaten records.
Washington stands tall atop the league with a 2-0 mark. The Demons have two dominant wins, one over Fairfield and one over Keokuk.
Washington opened the conference schedule with a 49-27 win over the Trojans. Jude Carter (132), Chase Greiner (160), Lukus Rickey (170) and Logan Frazer (182) all picked up pins as the Demons rolled to victory.
Washington took on Keokuk seven days later, and the Demons put it on the Chiefs to the tune of a 62-18 beating. Lane Schrock (138), Fredy Aguilar (145) and Greiner all had pins, and Aaron Boone won on a technical fall.
Fort Madison and Burlington both sit at 1-0 on the year. The Bloodhounds took down Mt. Pleasant 53-24 in its only SEC dual of the year, and Burlington defeated Fairfield 55-24 to start the season with a victory.
Mt. Pleasant has one win on the year in two tries. The Panthers currently sit in fourth place as the only 1-1 team in the league.
Mt. Pleasant’s only win so far came by decisive fashion. The Panthers pounded Keokuk 57-24.
Mt. Pleasant had two pins in its victory against the Chiefs. Bowen Davis (145) and Frank Tousignant both won by fall.
Fairfield is sitting at 0-2 after losses to Washington and Burlington.
Fairfield had three pins in the loss to Washington. Cam McClain (152), Dre Smithburg (195) and Theodore Metcalf (220) all won by fall. Against Burlington, Zach Westercamp (126), Jace Hannes (132) and Metcalf were the team’s three pins.
