DANVILLE — The Mt. Pleasant girls basketball team came out of the gates firing on Monday night in Danville, but the Bears proved too much as the contest drug on.
Danville rallied from a four-point deficit in the first quarter, grabbing the lead in the second and never looking back, as the Bears upended the Panthers, 58-42.
Danville outscored Mt. Pleasant 13-3 in the second quarter to take a 24-18 advantage into the third. The Bears won each of the last two quarters to pull away with a non-conference home victory, and drop Mt. Pleasant to 3-10 on the season.
Abigail Shelangoski scored 13 points for the Panthers in the loss, but it wasn’t enough to push Mt. Pleasant past the hosting Bears.
Mt. Pleasant will be on the road at Ft. Madison (8-4) on Friday night.
