COLUMBUS JUNCTION — After two weeks of heavy rains, the CJ Speedway saw racing action Friday.
The night featured Bike Night for the kids, which saw more than 40 kids leave the track with new bikes or scooters thanks to a long list of donors to the CJ Kids Fan Club.
Scott Jordan led the Mincer Ford IMCA Stock Cars feature race early before Jason See was able to take point. See, who started eighth, was constantly challenged late by David Brandies, who had started 10th. The final lap saw Brett Lowry shoot by Brandies for second as See took the win. A post-race incident saw Brandies disqualified, relegated to the final position on the lead lap. Tad Payne was scored third ahead of Pat Rachels.
The Stewart & Sons Fuel IMCA Modified win went to Kurt Kile, who took the high line of the track on the initial start and worked to the front from sixth. Kile led every lap in an impressive win over Derrick Stewart, who closed late.
The Huston Brothers Trucking IMCA Sportmod feature watched Shane Paris find the high line of he track to his liking in working to the front from a third-row start. Paris shot by early leader Mike Clausen and 19 other drivers to win ahead of seventh-starting Colton Livezey. Troy Phillpot ran up front the entire race but finished third.
Randy Lamar won the CJ Auto Parts/NAPA Store IMCA Hobby Stock. He held off the consistent challenges of track point leader Daniel Wauters. CJ newcomer Matthew McAtee crossed the checkers in third.
