SEISC all-conference teams released
Highland names six to lead North, Van Buren County lead South with four

It was yet another outstanding year for Southeast Iowa Super Conference volleyball and with the season nearing its end, it means it’s time for the 2023 SEISC All-Conference teams.
The season brought a plethora of nail-biting matches, as the SEISC was as competitive as its been in recent years.
While Holy Trinity Catholic was the sole SEISC team to make the state tournament, it was a great season nevertheless.
More specifically, Union area teams saw a lot of positives as well.
Winfield-Mt. Union found themselves near the top of the North standings once again, but it was Wapello taking the crown this season.
In the South, teams such as Van Buren County took great strides, but HTC, West Burlington and Notre Dame were the top squads once again.
Leading the Union area in total selections this season is Highland.
The Huskies finish with six total picks, two first-team, two second-team and two honorable mentions.
WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union both end with five as well as Columbus. Hillcrest finishes with four and Pekin three.
In the South division, VBC has four total selections. New London follows with three.
For Highland on first-team it’s senior Grace Prybil as a utility, senior Sarah Burton as a hitter and senior Madison Beeson as a defensive specialist.
Prybil was the Huskies go to assister on the season, finishing with a team-high 234. She also tallied a team-best 28 aces, 23 kills and 73 digs.
As for Burton, she was Highlands leading hitter. Burton finished off the year with 149 kills, along with team second-best in digs with 269 and aces with 25.
Beeson was stellar on the back-line for Highland in 2023.
Beeson’s 394 digs not only led the Huskies, but were a SEISC North best. She also totaled seven aces on the season.
On second-team for Highland was senior Lorelei Lueck.
Lueck finished with the second most kills on the squad behind Burton with 136. She finished with nine aces as well.
Rounding out the Huskies on the honorable mention list are junior’s Adeline Krotz and Lilly Barre.
Kicking things off for Winfield-Mt. Union is Aurey Meeker as a first-team Utility.
The senior, lead the Wolves in assists and aces with 274 and 37 respectfully. She finished second in digs as well with 177.
Joining Meeker on first-team is senior hitter Audrie Gipple.
Gipple was the Wolves’ go-to hitter, finishing with a high of 200 kills. That was third-best in the SEISC North. A kill efficiency of .217 was the fourth best in the North. Her 37 aces her also a team-high. Gipple also notched 174 digs throughout the season.
On second-team for the Wolves, it’s senior Tessa Huston as a libero.
Huston led the Wolves with a high of 282 digs. She also added 29 aces as well as 32 kills at libero.
WMU’s pair of honorable mentions are senior’s Lily Freeman and Kailey Neil.
For WACO, Emma Wagler kicks off the list with a first-team selection at hitter.
Wagler notched 183 kills through 86 sets, which was fourth most in the conference. Her kill efficiency of .230 was third-best in the North and her 35 blocks were the fifth most. She also tallied 35 aces.
On second-team for the Warriors are Meredith Roth as a setter and Halle Shelman as a defensive specialist.
Roth was fantastic at setting the Warriors up this year, finishing with 493 assists, the most in the conference. The senior also notched 40 aces through 31 matches.
As for Shelman, she was one of the top defenders in the area. The senior totaled 335 digs to lead the Warriors and the North division.
Senior’s Marie Farmer and Jessica Unternahrer were the Warrior’s two honorable mentions.
Leading Columbus with a first-team honor is sophomore Daniela Diaz as a setter.
Diaz carded 442 assists to pace the Wildcats and that mark ranked third in the North. She also ended with 128 digs and 13 aces in 26 matches.
For the Wildcats on second-team, it’s junior hitter Lily Coil.
Coil hit 176 kills through 2023, fifth most in the SEISC North. She also led the Wildcats with 280 digs and 28 aces.
Jessica Del Rio makes her way onto the second-team list at hitter.
Del Rio tallied a team second-best 97 kills. The sophomore also had 23 aces.
Junior Aracely Garza and sophomore Kennedy Woepking are Columbus’ two honorable mentions.
For Hillcrest Academy, junior Malia Yoder is the sole first-team selection.
Yoder led the North with a .309 kill efficiency rating. Her 209 kills were the second highest mark in the conference.
She also finished with 46 aces, third most in the league and had 302 digs, the fifth most in the conference.
Junior hitter Kylee Statler was a second-team selection. Statler led the conference with 50 aces. She also had 40 blocks, third most in the league, 111 kills, ninth in conference play, a .180 kill efficiency, fifth in the league, along with 139 digs.
The Ravens pair of honorable mentions were junior Lydia Beachy and sophomore Claire Withrow.
Rounding out the SEISC North is Pekin with Myah Bainbridge as a second-team utility.
Bainbridge, a junior, finished with a team-high 226 assists, a best of 37 aces and the second-most kills at 91. Along with that, she finished with 149 digs, second most for the Panthers.
Pekin’s honorable mentions are senior Alex Parsons and junior Kayse Miller.
In the SEISC South, senior Ivy Davison leads Van Buren County with a second-team hitter selection.
Davison finished with a team-highs in kills, 311 and blocks, 109. Her kills were a SEISC South fourth most and the blocks were the second most in the conference. She also notched 24 aces and 83 digs.
At libero, junior Tessa Sayre earns the second-team distinction.
Sayre finished with 310 digs and 68 aces to lead the Warriors. Both were team-best with the digs mark leading the league.
VBC’s two honorable mentions are sophomore Sophia Jirak and senior Bree Kirkhart.
For New London, senior Sophie Malott is a second-team defensive specialist.
Malott led the Tigers in kills, digs and aces on the season. She finished with 229 kills, 329 digs and 53 aces through 27 matches.
Representing the Tigers on honorable mention are senior Tysann Gipple and junior Morgan Jones.
