SEISC boys shootout: South dominates

The 2022 Southeast Iowa Super Conference boys basketball shootout was dominated by the South Division. Teams from the south consistently had the upper-hand on Saturday night.
The South Division went 8-1 overall, with Highland being the only winner on the North side. Listed below are shootout games involving Union area teams.
WACO 60, Hillcrest Academy 22
In a battle between third place teams in the conference, WACO rolled to a dominating victory.
Hunter Hughes scored 14 points to lead the way for WACO. Mason Miller and Reece Oswald each scored 12. Grant Bender put up 10 for Hillcrest.
Cardinal 61, Pekin 49
The Comets and Panthers battled in what was a tightly-contested contest until Cardinal pulled away in the fourth quarter.
Dawson Lewis scored 20 points to help Cardinal pull away with victory. Luke Long went for 20 points and 12 rebounds to pace Pekin.
Highland 57, Van Buren County 45
The Huskies pulled off a rare win for the North, outscoring Van Buren County 16-9 in the fourth period to run away late.
Trevor McFarland dominated all night for Highland. He finished the night with 20 points and 16 rebounds. Chase Schultz added 12 points and Kaige Vonnehme scored 11.
Notre Dame 55, Columbus 27
The Wildcats couldn’t get much offense going against the Nikes, who took every quarter.
Despite the loss, Timothy Hills had a nice game for Columbus. He finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four steals.
