SEISC names All-Conference soccer teams

The Southeast Iowa Super Conference released its 2023 All-Conference boys soccer list last week, and a few familiar names graced an elite list of Southeast Iowa athletes.

The SEISC released three teams. One first team group, one second team and a list of honorable mentions.

Three area athletes were named to the All-SEISC first team. Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union forward Fernado Erazo, WACO defender Reece Oswald and Hillcrest Academy defender Drew Bender were all named to the list.

Erazo, a junior, had a monster year for the Wildcats. He scored a tremendous 18 goals on the year, and added two assists to his season total.

Oswald, a junior was a top defender for a WACO team that allowed just eight goals in their first six games of the year, and also gave up just three goals over their last four.

Bender was the only Union area senior to make the first team. Despite being listed as a defender, Bender led the Ravens in shots, and also scored a team-high six goals, while dishing out one assist.

Making the second team from the Union area was WACO sophomore Keiran Liutjens, Hillcrest Academy sophomore Mason Bender, sophomore Joel Meyer of WACO, and senior Daniel Martinez of Columbus.

Also getting a second-team nod was Danville-New London junior Talon Whaley.

Each SEISC squad was given two honorable mentions.
