Senior golf league begins at Washington Golf and Country Club

WASHINGTON — The men’s senior golf league is underway at the Washington Golf & Country Club.
Every week features a different format of a best shot best shot golf. A random draw among the 40 some players determines the teams for the week.
Events include anything from a simple two-man to a four man Las Vegas best shot.
No team scores are kept and the theme is a non-competitive golf outing but don’t tell the players that as everyone strives to play their best golf. Five different events are contested each week.
Some of the winners include Doug Conrad closest to marker on Hole 1 and Gene Zeck’s drive on Hole 4. Bob Gaal holed a long putt on Hole 3. Tom Doughty was closest to the hole on Hole 2, and Tom Lowe was the winner on No. 8 with closest to the hole on his second shot.
Ages of the players range from mid-50s to upper 80s and is open to any WG and member and player at 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.
The Senior League will be hosting a two-man best shot Monday July 17. The event is open to anyone. Information and details at 319-653-2080.
