BURLINGTON — Saturday night marked the 2026 Southeast Iowa All-Star senior basketball game at Notre Dame’s Father Minet Gymnasium in Burlington, and the Union area had eight players in attendance.
New London seniors London Franklin, Megan Lee and Molly Proost all joined the festivities, as did WACO’s Kellen Shelman and Nick West, Winfield-Mt. Union’s Katie Miller and Madisen Kellogg, as well as Van Buren County’s Marlee Mertens.
In the girls’ game, the team wearing colored jerseys, which featured Kellogg, Lee, Proost and Mertens were victorious, 85-75 over the girls’ white team. In the boys’ game, the team wearing colored jerseys, featuring Franklin, Shelman and West, fell 116-111 in a defense-optional showdown, which featured a four-point shot in the final two minutes.
Mertens and West were both competitors in the 3-point shootout. Franklin competed in the dunk contest, but no area players were able to bring home the top spot in either of the three competitions.
The Southeast Iowa All-Star game is a final opportunity for players from Southeast Iowa to compete against each other, wearing their high school basketball uniforms for one last time all together.
