Not even a scoring draught that lasted almost the entire first quarter could derail the Fairfield seventh-grade boys? ?A? team Tuesday vs. Fort Madison.
The Trojans trailed 2-5 after the first quarter, but the ?A? team soon picked up the pace to grab the 32-25 win.
Cam Baumann led Fairfield with 17 points, 14 rebounds, six steals and four assists. Denver Schultz had 12 points and five rebounds; Alex Conrad scored two points and grabbed three boards; Kyle Roberts tallied one point with six boards; and Brian Buch and Eric Swan hauled in two rebounds apiece.
The ?B? team won 26-15 led by Jacob Schillerstrom?s 10 points. Klayton Benedict scored six points and Brayden Miller had four. Dylon Abbott, Cam Burke and Connor Johnson added two points apiece.
Seventh-graders fall to Keokuk
The Fairfield seventh-grade ?A? team lost to Keokuk 47-43 last Tuesday.
Baumann tossed up 29 points, grabbed seven rebounds and eight steals, and handed out two assists; Schultz scored nine points to go with five boards, four steals and three assists; Roberts added two points and five boards; and Eric Swan scored one basket.
