Seventh grade girls? A and B teams dealt first losses
The Mt. Pleasant seventh grade girls? basketball team fell in both the ?A? and ?B? games against James Madison on Tuesday night in Mt. Pleasant, giving the Panther girls their first losses of the season.

The Mt. Pleasant seventh grade girls? basketball team fell in both the ?A? and ?B? games against James Madison on Tuesday night in Mt. Pleasant, giving the Panther girls their first losses of the season.
The teams were coming off wins against Aldo Leopold last week.
The A team suffered a one-point loss, 38-37. The Panthers were down 14-7 after the first quarter, and they cut that lead to 21-17 by the end of the half. James Madison maintained its lead through the third quarter and went into the fourth up 29-24.
The Panthers made a comeback in the final quarter, but their efforts fell just short.
Bailey Johnson and Allison Buckert had 10 points each to lead Mt. Pleasant. Rylee Amos added eight points, while Callie Liechty put up three.
Kirsten Smith, Genna Cristoforo and Sarah Moffett chipped in two points each.
The A team is now 5-1.
In the B game, the Panthers were tied with James Madison through the first half, ending the first quarter 4-4 and the second quarter 10-10.
In the third quarter, however, the James Madison girls made their move: they doubled their score with another 10 points, while the Panthers managed to add only four points. The Panthers fell farther behind as the game went on, and they dropped the contest by a score of 25-16.
Sheyanne Walter had six points to lead the Panthers. Lexie Little added four, while Kirsten Fry, Lauren Stewart and Aleigha Cam contributed two points apiece.
The B team is now 4-1 on the season.
The seventh grade girls will play against James Madison again on Thursday. This time the game will be in Burlington, at Clark Field House. Competition begins at 4:30 p.m.
