Seventh-grade girls close out strong

The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade girls closed the year out with five wins in six days. The 'A” team went 3-0 over that period with wins over Washington, Ottumwa and Fairfiel, and the 'B” team was 2-1 over that stretch.
The Panthers started their run through Southeast Iowa on Thursday, Feb. 21. The ‘A” team beat Washington 25-2 in a home showdown and the 'B” team won 14-4.
Andi Scott led the team with seven points int he win. Emma Starr, Megan Borders, Elsie Lange nad Malia Anderson had four points apiece. Courtney Raub scored two.
In the 'B” game, Elaina Holtkamp and Jolynn Keomanivong put up six points apiece. Kierra Parrish and Juliana Burns had two each.
On Friday, Feb. 22, the Panthers swept Ottumwa at home, 26-14 in the 'A” game and 14-2 in the 'B” game.
Scott led the 'A” team with 10 points in the win. Borders had eight points. Starr scored six, and Raub had two.
In the 'B” game, Holtkamp put up four points to lead the team. Kylie Walderbach, Parrish, Keshawnna Phipps, Mariah Jack and Burns scored two each.
The Panthers grinded out a 24-21 win over Fairfield in the 'A” game on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Scott had another big game, with six points. Starr and Lange scored five each, and both Borders and Josie Gilmore had four.
Mt. Pleasant only scored four points in the 'B” game, falling 14-4. Keomanivong and Parrish scored two points apiece to lead the team.
Mt. Pleasant finished the year with a 7-4 record in 'A” games and a 7-4 record in 'B” games for a final record of 14-8 overall.
