SIGOURNEY — Columbus won the boys team race, and Pekin more than doubled second place in winning the girls meet.
The 1600 meter run was such a competitive race that fourth place broke the meet record and second place broke the track’s record. Isaac Acosta of Columbus won in 4 minutes, 44.5 seconds, edging Pekin’s Brady Millikin at 4:46.1 and Winfield-Mount Union’s Brody Barton at 4:51.5. The record was 4:55.35 by Pekin’s Colten Glosser and the track record was 4:49.34.
Pekin’s Mackenzie Dahlstrom, Sophie Wittrock, Audrey Fariss and Lauren Dershied set a meet and track distance medley record at 4:32.8, more than 4 seconds better than the former mark.
