MT. PLEASANT — New London’s Mason Shelledy is staying in Henry County. The Tiger senior golfer committed to Iowa Wesleyan University earlier this month.
Shelledy led New London with a nine-hole average of 43.60 last year and an 18-hole average of 84. Shelledy’s low for nine holes was 40, tied for a team high, and his 18-hole average of 83 was tops on the New London squad.
Shelledy and the Tigers won the 2022 Southeast Iowa Super Conference boys golf tournament, thanks in part to his own third-place finish of 83. He shot a 91 at sectionals to help the Tigers finish second to Keota.
Shelledy will join an Iowa Wesleyan team that already features six Iowans. The Tiger team has three golfers who graduated Mt. Pleasant, including Mason’s brother Bailey Shelledy, who is in his senior year, along with two from West Burlington and one from West Branch.
