At an archery tournament earlier this season, the Shooting for a Cure fundraiser was held so that a local family could be helped out with expenses related to cancer.
Saturday at Washington High School, that money was awarded.
The recipient of the money from the Shooting for a Cure fundraiser tournament was the Nathan Guy Family.
Nathan Guy has been battling cancer for approximately two years.
His family was chosen by the archery parent committee after it received nominations from each school in the district.
The Guy family has been a positive influence in the Washington school district for many years. Nathan Guy is a graduate of WHS along with several generations of WHS graduates in his family.
His mother (Cindy Guy) has worked for the school district for over 30 years and is the secretary at Lincoln Elementary school. Family has volunteered for several activities in the school district for many years.
'It is an honor for the Archery Program to help the Guy family with their fight to cure Nathan,” said Joleen Cerka, one of the program's directors, along with Kathy Stender.
