Sigourney-Keota boys shine in Wapello
Cobra boys take second in Willard Howell Invitational

WAPELLO — Sigourney-Keota finished second in the 58th annual Willard Howell Invitational on Saturday, scoring 131.5 points. Highland took ninth, with 58 points, and Mt. Pleasant was 10th, with 26.
The first annual girls Willard Howell Invitational also took place. WACO was seventh, with 85 points. Highland scored 73, for eighth. Mt. Pleasant took 11th, with 53. Columbus/WMU/Lone Tree was 13th, with 42.
Sigourney-Keota’s Jack Clarahan won the 170-pound bracket in the boys’ meet, to lead the Cobras to a second-place finish. He won in four different ways, taking his first match by fall, his second by medical forfeit, his third by tech fall and the final match on a 7-0 decision over Louisa-Muscatine’s Kendal Pugh.
On the girls’ side, WACO’s Bralyyn Wagler took home a victory in the 235-pound weight bracket. She won all three of her matches by pinfall, including a pin against Mt. Pleasant’s Zenlynn Lee in the first place match. Wagler pinned Lee in 1 minute, 41 seconds.
Highland’s Mackenzie McFarland won the 110-pound bracket. She had three pins as well, including a pin the first place match, where she defeated Durant’s Lainey Shelangoski in 1:48.
Mt. Pleasant’s Ella McNamee won the 105-pound bracket. She scooped up three pins, including one over Wapello’s Madi Lundvall in the championship match. McNamee won her title bout in 2:25.
