SIGOURNEY — Sigourney-Keota continued its streak of dominance on the gridiron Friday night in its Class 1A opening round playoff matchup against West Central Valley.
The No. 6 ranked Cobras clicked early and often on their way to a 52-7 victory over the Wildcats.
Sigourney-Keota set the tone early as big hit by Jake Moore caused the Wildcats to fumble and later turned into a Kale Clarahan one-yard rushing score.
The Cobras only kept up the pace from then on out.
S-K scored its second of the night after yet another midfield defensive stop.
This time Sawyer Stout found pay dirt from 10-yards out to give the Cobras a 14 point advantage.
Defense made all the difference.
An interception by Kale Clarahan on the next drive turned into six more as Stout connected with Cole Kindred on a 48-yard strike to make it 20-0.
Following yet another touchdown run, this time by Isaac Bruns from 21-yards out, the Cobras led 28-0 at the half.
That proved to be S-K’s biggest quarter of the night.
Stout scored the Cobras lone touchdown in the second on a nine yard rush, giving them a 35-0 lead over West Central Valley at the break.
S-K kept on the gas in the second half.
Bruns got the Cobras started with a 40-yard touchdown run to make it 42-0 and then a rush for six from Stout and a field goal from Caden Clarahan sealed the deal.
West Central Valley scored its lone points of the game on a 50-yard run with 5:51 left in the contest.
Stout went 1-for-2 through the air in the win with one touchdown thrown to Cole Kindred for 52 yards.
Landon Crow also caught a pass for 20 yards from Braydon Wood.
