Not much has changed since the Cedar Rapids Gazette/KGYM Radio poll put out its way-too-early football rankings in the spring. The same four teams are ranked No. 1 after a new preseason poll was taken last week.
Three area teams received votes in the preseason poll. Sigourney-Keota is ranked No. 9 in the Class 1A poll. Washington received 13 votes in the Class 3A poll, two votes off the Top-10, and Mid-Prairie picked up seven votes in the Class 2A poll, three votes away from being ranked.
Two teams were unanimously ranked No. 1 in their respective classes. Pella received all six first-place votes in Class 3A and Ida Grove OABCIG picked up all six first-place votes in Class 1A.
West Des Moines Dowling, Waukon, Iowa City Regina and Don Bosco rounded out the rest of the top-ranked teams in the poll.
Pollsters are Jeff Johnson, K.J. Pilcher, Jeff Linder and Nathan Ford of The Gazette, Andy Krutsinger of the Southeast Iowa Union and Scott Unash of KGYM Radio.
