Six Golden Hawks make All-River Valley South
Mid-Prairie softball names two to first team RVC South in 2023

WELLMAN — The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks softball team received its seasonal conference honors from the River Valley South Conference last month.
In a talented RVC South, the Golden Hawks had six players named to the all-conference list.
Two of the six were given first team distinctions.
The pair of first teamers for Mid-Prairie are senior Madeline Schrader and sophomore Dakota Mitchell.
Schrader batted .279 in her final season as a Golden Hawk, tallying 20 runs, 39 hits, a home run, six doubles and 13 RBIs.
She also finished with a fielder percentage of .945 through 37 games played.
As for Mitchell, it was a fantastic season on the diamond.
Mitchell finished the season with the sixth highest batting average in the RVC South, .439.
Her .519 on base percentage was the fifth best in the RVC. She amassed 50 hits, 37 singles, seven doubles, four triples and two home runs with 22 RBIs. Mitchell also had a team-best 32 runs scored.
Three Golden Hawks were named to second team in 2023.
Sophomore Sydney Knebel was the Golden Hawks go to pitcher as she started 25 of 26 games.
Knebel ended the season with an ERA of 3.45, fourth in the RVC, through 150 innings, a conference high.
She held the opposition to an average of .274, giving up 176 hits, 74 earned runs with 119 strikeouts.
In the box, Knebel finished with an average of .395 with 45 hits and 32 RBIs.
Also on second team is sophomore infielder Brenna Jehle. Jehle batted .333 on the year with 36 hits, 25 singles, nine doubles, one triple and home run with 25 RBIs. She scored 25 runs as well.
Freshman Sophie Miller earned a second team bid as a catcher.
Miller hit .393 through 37 games tallying 48 hits, 40 singles and eight doubles with 26 runs scored and 24 RBIs.
She was outstanding behind the plate, throwing out a conference best nine attempted stealers. She had just two errors through the season with 171 total chances.
Rounding out the Golden Hawks on the all-conference list is junior Hannah Sellers with an honorable mention selection.
Sellers finished the year with an average of .376 with 22 runs, 44 hits, 33 singles, six doubles, one triple, a team-high four home runs and 22 RBIs.
On the season, the Golden Hawks finished 16-21 overall and 11-4 in the RVC South.
