Fall sports season is upon us, so it’s time for Keota fans to dawn both their Eagle and Cobra colors as the 2023-24 school year begins.
The Sigourney-Keota football team was expected to take a bit of a dip last season, but the team bounced back from an 0-2 start to finish the year 8-3, advancing all the way to the Class 1A quarterfinals.
The Cobras could be in for a huge year, 500-yard rusher Isaac Bruns returns for his junior year. Leading passer Sawyer Stout will be a senior. Last year, he threw for 620 yards and nine touchdowns, and also ran for 393 yards and a score.
The Keota volleyball team went 4-20 last season. The Eagles return junior Izzi Chalupa, who had 49 kills last year, second most on the team, as well as setter Cassandra Swantz who led the way with 108 assists.
