SK rolls in home meet

SIGOURNEY - The Sigourney-Keota wrestling team went a perfect 4-0 on Thursday night in the Cobras' home meet. SK defeated Baxter 34-15, Cardinal 54-12, Montezuma 54-6 and WACO 54-0.

In their closest matchup of the night, the Cobras utilized four pins and a major decision to beat Baxter. SK picked up pinfalls by Jack Clarahan at 170 pounds, Aiden Schuster at 182 pounds, Talan Zickefoose at 138 pounds and Jacob Moore at 145 pounds. Evan Dawson scored a 21-10 victory at 152 pounds.

SK hadthree pins against Cardinal. Cade Streigle pinned Isaac Cox at 285 pounds. Dawson pinned Keagan Atkinson at 152 pounds, and Aiden Schuster beat Brock Lewman in 13 seconds, the fastest win of the day for the Cobras.

There was only one match played in SK's defeat of Montezuma. Dawson won his third match of the day, pinning Montezuma's Braxton Simpson in 28 seconds to finish 3-0.

SK and WACO had three matches against each other, all won by the Cobras. SK won the 120-pound match when D.J. Hammes pinned John McLaughlin. At 138 pounds, Zickefoose pinned WACO's Braden Spain in 15 seconds, and 160-pounder Jack Clarahan pinned WACo's Dalton Provino in 43 seconds.

WACO also had matches against Baxter and Montezuma. The Warriors were shut out 54-0 against Baxter, falling in three matches and forfeiting the rest. The Warriors tied 18-18 with Montezuma in a matchup that was all forfeits.

Cardinal and WACO didn't wrestle, but the Comets did havea match with Baxter, which they lost 45-18. All of the Comets' wins in that match were by forfeit.
