Small school football preview: Columbus looks for fourth straight win

It’s another busy Friday for area football teams, as handful are looking to bounce back after losses, while others are looking to stay undefeated.
Lisbon (1-2) at Columbus (3-0)
The game against Lisbon is one of the biggest of the year so far for Columbus. A win would move the Wildcats to 4-0 on the season.
Leading the Wildcat’s offense is Kaden Amigon. Amigon has just 27 rushes, but has 408 yards and four touchdowns. Triston Miller follows with 21 carries for 391 yards and five touchdowns.
Columbus has thrown just two times this season.
Lisbon is led by Cohen Kamaus. Kamaus has 391 passing yards and five touchdowns. He also is the Lions ground leader with 121 yards and two touchdowns.
No. 2 (8-player) WACO (4-0) at Iowa Valley (3-1)
WACO will look to stay undefeated against a high powered Iowa Valley offense on Friday night.
Isaac Oswald leads the Warrior offensive attack with 45 completions on the season for 582 yards and nine touchdowns. He also has four on the ground.
Simeon Reichenbach leads WACO on the ground with 312 yards and eight touchdowns on 35 carries. Reichenbach also has 112 yards receiving to go along with three touchdowns. Oleh Shtefanchuk is the Warriors leading receiver with seven receptions for 158 yards.
Iowa Valley is led by Evan Kearney. Kearney has amassed 30 total touchdowns on the season. Kearney has 733 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, along with 830 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
English Valleys (0-3) at New London (2-2)
New London will be looking to pick up its third consecutive win on Friday night on their homecoming.
For the Tigers, Dom Lopez leading under center. He’s thrown for 422 yards and seven touchdowns. Lopez has also rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns.
Reean Seberg is the Tigers leading rusher with 249 yards and four touchdowns. Evan Reed is the Tigers lead receiver with eight catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
For English Valleys’s Treyton Shaw as rushed for 282 yards on 64 carries and no touchdowns. The Bears have no touchdowns through the air. Josh Osborn has 158 yards passing and 121 yards rushing along with two touchdowns.
Winfield-Mt. Union (2-2) at HLV (0-3)
Winfield is looking to get back on track this week after back-to-back losses to New London and Iowa Valley.
Cam Buffington spearheads the WMU attack. Buffington has 646 yards rushing for nine touchdowns and has five more through the air on 188 yards receiving. Buffington also has a team-best 35.5 tackles.
Cole Milks leads the passing attack with 459 yards and seven touchdowns. Milks also had 232 yards on the ground and five touchdowns.
Central Decatur (1-2) at Cardinal (0-3)
Cardinal has had a tough road thus far, but as the season has continued the Comets have only gotten better. They’re coming off a tightly contest loss to Davis County.
Carson Kenney will play quarterback for Cardinal. Thus far, he has 197 yards passing and 119 yards rushing with one touchdown.
Craig Miller has rushed for 215 yards and one touchdown. Isaac Lett has six receptions for 70 yards for the Comets.
Pekin (2-1) at Wapello (1-2)
Pekin has been playing some great ball this season after struggling last year. The Panthers have a chance to make it two in a row with a win over Wapello.
Luke Long has been huge for Pekin thus far. Long has 101 yards passing for two touchdowns and 193 yards rushing for two touchdowns. Both are team highs.
For Wapello, Casey Short has 530 passing yards and three touchdowns. Dylan woodruff has 227 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Jake Gustison has 10 receptions for 186 yards and a touchdown.
Sigourney-Keota (1-2) at Pleasantville (2-1)
The Cobras are coming off a dominant win over ranked Centerville marking their first win of the season.
Pleasantville’s going to be another tough matchup for Sigourney-Keota, but the Cobras will look to get back to .500.
Sawyer Stout has 145 yards passing and three touchdowns for the Cobras. Cole Clarahan leads with 313 yards on the ground with four touchdowns.
Mid-Prairie (2-1) at Eddyville-Blakesburg Fremont (0-3)
The Golden Hawks are coming off their first loss of the season to a tough Regina Catholic squad. But against the Rockets Friday night, Mid-Prairie has a great shot to get back to their winning ways.
Collin Miller has 174 yards passing for the Golden Hawks, along with four touchdowns. Braden Hartley has 510 yards on the ground with four touchdowns as well.
Cain Brown lead in catches with seven for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
The Rockets are led by Jesse Cornelison, who has 183 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Van Buren County (2-1) at Pella Christian (3-0)
The Warriors have performed well so far this season, but Friday’s matchup against the Eagles will be a tough one.
Jackson Manning leads Van Buren with 563 yards passing and four touchdowns. He also had 74 yards on the ground with three touchdowns.
Sam Warth has 225 yards rushing with four touchdowns. Anthony Duncan has 17 catches for 398 yards and three touchdowns.
Isaac Kacmarynski has 240 yards passing and 490 yards rushing along with nine total touchdowns for Pella Christian.
Highland (0-3) at North Cedar (0-3)
Highland has one of the toughest roads through its first three games of the season. This week the Huskies have a great chance to pick up their first win.
Sage Hartley-Norman has 124 passing yards and one touchdown for Highland. Hartley-Norman also has 147 yards on the ground.
Ethan Paisley has four receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown for Highland.
North Cedar is led by Peyton Clark, with 47 yards rushing and 125 yard receiving with a touchdown as well.
