Danville 31, Columbus 24
Columbus traveled to Danville on Friday night to face off with the Bears in the pairs final regular season game.
The Wildcats battle back and forth with the Bears, but came up short in overtime 31-24.
Columbus trailed 10-0 at the half, but came storming back on three rushing touchdowns from Riley Kaalberg to make it 18-16 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Wildcats extended that advantage on the first play of the fourth quarter on an 81 yard touchdown run by Kaalberg to make it 24-16, but they could not contain the Bears.
With 9:14 to play, a one handed snag by the Bears set up a two-yard touchdown to tie it up.
The two teams traded turnovers to end regulation, but a Danville touchdowns in overtime and another Wildcat turnover ended it.
Kaalberg had a sensational night on the ground, rushing 29 times for a whopping 360 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught one pass for 30 yards.
Trevor Phillips had 81 yards passing for Columbus as well.
Drew Totemeier ended with 10 tackles for Columbus.
Columbus will head into the playoffs with a 4-4 record. They will take on Maquoketa Valley.
New London 56, English Valleys 22
New London took care of business on Friday night in a 56-22 win over English Valleys.
The Tigers scored on the Bears in bunches early on as Gavin-Menke Bailey notched three first quarter touchdowns, the third of which was thrown to Logan Franklin.
After a fumble recovery in the end zone, the Tigers led 28-0 after the first quarter.
New London only tacked it on from then on out as they built a 42-0 halftime advantage.
English Valleys never had an answer.
Menke-Bailey threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns. He rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns as well.
London Franklin led all rushers with 117 yards and two scores.
Logan Franklin led in receiving with two catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.
Pekin 58, Louisa-Muscatine 0
Pekin shutout Louisa-Muscatine in the regular season finale on Friday evening.
The Panthers had no problem scoring in every quarter on the night.
Pekin put up 44 points in the first half, while scoring seven each in the third and fourth.
Will Adam threw for 43 yards and one touchdown, while rushing for 47 yards and a score as well.
Nolan Glick rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns.
Robert Brown finished with just one reception for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Pekin will take on North Linn in the first round of the playoffs.
Sigourney-Keota 79, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 6
Sigourney-Keota dominated EBF on Friday night.
The Cobras scored a whopping 46 points in the first quarter and led 60-6 at the break.
Isaac Bruns finished with 192 yards and three touchdowns on just seven attempts.
Brayden Wood had 109 yards passing with two scores. Wood added 64 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Ayden Galindo had 80 yards receiving.
Winfield-Mt. Union 58, HLV 18
Winfield-Mt. Union downed HLV on Friday to get into the playoffs on Friday.
The Wolves outscored the Warriors 52-12 in the first half and never looked back.
Jake Edwards threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns.
Lane Genkinger finished with 253 yards and four touchdowns on the ground. He also caught a touchdown along with 93 yards.
Max Edwards led the receiving category with 157 yards and two scores.
Mid-Prairie 42, Albia 7
Mid-Prairie scored 21 points in the first quarter on its way to a dominant win over Albia in the regular season finale.
The Golden Hawks led 21-7 at the half, but 21 additional points in the second half were more than enough to get it done.
Brady Weber threw for 71 yards. He also scored two touchdowns on the ground.
Hudson Ehrenfelt finished with 143 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Tatem Telfer ended with eight catches for 46 yards. Conner Wiles had seven tackles.
Highland 43, Wapello 0
Highland won big over Wapello in its final regular season game.
The Huskies scored in every quarter, leading just 2-0 after one and then 20-0 at the half.
Highland added 23 more through the third and fourth to seal it.
Sage Hartley-Norman ended with 175 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Ayden Havel caught two passes for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Colten Sypherd ended with 8.5 tackles.
Pleasantville 56, Cardinal 13
Cardinal couldn’t keep up with Pleasantville on Friday night.
Pleasantville scored all 56 of its points in the first half.
The Trojans put up 35 points in the first quarter and another 21 in the second.
Cardinal scored six in the first and seven in the third.
Alijah Frase finished with 190 yards through the air and two touchdowns for Cardinal.
Jacob Figueroa ended with 29 yards rushing.
Chase Johnson ended with 88 yards receiving on two catches.
Zach Luedtke had 12 tackles.
Lisbon 49, Van Buren County 0
Van Buren County was shutout by top five ranked Lisbon on Friday.
The Lions scored 35 points in the first quarter and 14 more in the second to down the Warriors in the season finale.
Will Cocherell had 56 passing yards for the Warriors.
Bryce Moquin ran for 20 yards. Kamden Nusbaum finished with 26 yards receiving and 9.5 tackles.
